What are the dates of Atlanta '08?
Atlanta '08 begins Sunday, December 28th with registration 1:00pm - 6:00pm. If you are flying, plan to arrive by 4pm. Dinner will be served that evening. The conference ends the morning of Thursday, January 1st after coming into the New Year together! Arrange flights for after 7am.
Who is sponsoring Atlanta '08?
Atlanta 2008 is sponsored by InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Primary leadership for this conference comes from InterVarsity's Black Campus Ministries, which is a part of our Multiethnic Ministries Department.

Who can attend Atlanta ‘08?
Because Atlanta 2008 is a National Black Student Leadership Advancement conference, the conference is for black Christian students who operate in an official or unofficial leadership capacity in their InterVarsity fellowship, church, or campus ministry. We are asking that only sophomore, junior, and senior undergraduate student leaders as well as graduate student leaders attend this conference.
Is Atlanta '08 for undergraduate AND graduate students? Are non-InterVarsity students welcome?
Yes, there will be special emphasis at this conference for graduate and undergraduate students. Graduate students will have a special track that they will attend in place of seminar times. Non-InterVarsity students are welcome.
How many people will attend Atlanta '08?
We are expecting 300 delegates to attend (225 undergraduate, 75 graduate) along with approximately 30 InterVarsity staff and a hosts of volunteers and special guests.
Can I come late to and/or leave early from Atlanta '08?
Part-time attendance is not permitted at Atlanta '08 Conference.
Will I need to pay in full when I register? What is the registration deposit? When is the remainder of the conference fee due?
To register for the conference, Atlanta '08 requires a $100 deposit. The remainder of the conference fee is due when you arrive at the conference.
Is there a commuter package?
No, only one registration package fee is available; housing is included.
If I need to cancel, can I transfer my registration to someone else's name?
No - transfers will not be allowed.
Are there scholarships available?
Please contact your InterVarsity staff worker for a possible scholarship. Also, be creative about raising the funds yourself. Try writing a letter to your home church or friends and family asking them to help send you to this life-changing conference. Express what you hope to gain from the conference and ask for their prayer and financial support in your going.
How much extra money should I bring?
Your conference fee covers all of your housing and meals costs. There will be a conference store that will sell books and there will also be an opportunity to give in an offering to support God’s work at some other place in the world. More details on this special missions offering to come at the conference.
Can I bring my children?
Accommodations and program are not available for children of delegates, and they are not permitted at the conference.
What about transportation: how can I get to Atlanta '08, and how will I get around once there?
See the Travel page on this website for more information regarding flights to and from Atlanta. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK YOUR TRANSPORTATION ARRANGEMENTS UNTIL YOU ARE A CONFIRMED DELEGATE TO THE CONFERENCE. Feel free to arrange travel through LeTravel LTD (www.letravelltd.com). Contact them at 1-800-637-9696 and let them know you are interested in travel for the Atlanta 2008 Conference and they will assist in finding the best flight for you. Those flying to Atlanta will catch the local subway (MARTA) to the Doraville MARTA station, where they will be shuttled to the conference site. Please bring $4.50 (2.25 each way) for the fare to and from the airport.
If I drive my car, will parking be available?
Yes, parking is available onsite.
What is the conference schedule?
The conference schedule consists of morning sessions (worship and bible exposition on Jonah) as well as evening sessions (worship and speakers focusing on repentance, reconciliation, redemption, and restoration). There will also be a special service planned for New Year‘s Eve! Seminars and free time will be in the afternoons.

What is the attire for Atlanta '08?
Dress is "casual" for Atlanta '08. Jeans, sweaters, tennis shoes, etc. are acceptable.
Can I go tour Atlanta during the conference?
There will not be time within the conference schedule to go sightseeing in Atlanta. We suggest that you plan to arrive early or stay later to enjoy this beautiful city. If you decide to do so, you will need to provide for your own accommodations, meals, and transportation.
Are there special rooms/facilities for those who use wheelchairs?
Simpsonwood is wheelchair accessible in public doors and hallways. Please alert us to your needs in the "special needs" section as you register.
How will meals work? What if I have special dietary needs?
Meals will be served buffet style with vegetarian options. Please indicate any dietary needs in that section of your registration.
What is the weather in Atlanta in late December?
In December, it is typically cold in Atlanta, but the weather can vary. Checking weather reports before packing is advised. We recommend that you dress in layers (i.e. Coat for outside, with sweater/sweat shirt for indoor, or something comparable).
How much should I pack?
Because of limited space in your rooms, we encourage you to bring just one suitcase and one carry-on bag. You should bring only as much as you can carry on your own.
I have a talent I want to share with others (drama, poetry, song, etc.): will there be a venue for me to do so?
During three late evenings of the conference, delegates can sign up to share their gifts and talents (to the glory of God) at the Atlanta '08 Café. There will be a limited number of slots, so make sure you sign up early. Make sure you bring the appropriate CD's, cassette tapes, or other accompaniment. Look for more information when you arrive.
Will walk-in registrations be accepted at Atlanta '08?
Walk-in registrations WILL NOT be accepted at Atlanta '08.
How can I room with my friends?
Yes. You can make a preference for roomates during online registration and we will do our best to accommodate your requests.
